Cell phone data extractor for Crime Scene Investigators

April 19, 2006 1:44 PM | Technology | Comments (0)

Criminals beware!  As a matter of fact, no one is safe. You can pretty much kiss your privacy goodbye if you leave your phone behind at a crime scene.

The Logicube CellDEK is a device that is now available to real crime scene investigators. It can extract data from up to 160 mobile phones, providing leads to an arrest or solving an unsolved mystery. It can also extract serial number, stored multimedia, call histories and deleted SMS messages.

Of course, your local police department is going to have to plunk down $20,000 to get their hands on this self-contained system. The Logicube CellDEK features a touchscreen display, infrared, and Bluetooth, with data extraction taking about five minutes to complete.

More information from the company
The revolutionary new CellDEK® has been developed in cooperation with the UK's Forensic Science Service (FSS®). The portable CellDEK® acquires data from over 160 of the most popular cell phones and PDA's.

Built to perform in the field (not just in the lab), investigators can immediately gain acces to vital information. This saves days of waiting for crucial data to come back from a crime lab.

The self-contained system features a touch-screen display allowing the user to quickly identify devices by brand, model number, dimensions and/or photographs. Once the device is identified, connectivity options are offered, suggesting the most suitable options. A “smart” selection program illuminates the correct USB adapter. Connectivity by infra-red and Bluetooth are also built-in. The CellDEK then captures all stored data within approximately five minutes, making it the choice tool for volume requirements. Up to 40 adapters may be stored in the system’s built-in rack.

The CellDEK software automatically performs forensic extraction of the following data: Handset Time and Date, Serial Numbers (IMEI, IMSI), Dialed Calls, Received Calls, Phonebook (both handset and SIM), SMS (both handset and SIM), Deleted SMS from SIM, Calendar, Memos, To Do Lists, Pictures, Video, and Audio. The CellDEK can then display the data on screen, providing immediate evidence and intelligence for faster interdiction & prosecution.
