Google To Release Cell Phone by 2008

| According to Sina.com, Google will release its first cell phone by the end of this year or early next year (recently reported as a rumor). The handset is being developed by Taiwan-based HTC Co., who also manufactures the Apple iPhone. The Google cell phone will be able to access to the Internet and will feature Google's Gmail and search engine services. According to Isabel Aguilera, CEO of Google's Spain and Portugal regions, Google is developing a mobile phone for users in developing countries so that they can get easier access to information. Google, Yahoo! and Microsoft Corp are developing mobile services such as e-mail, online maps and search engines to gain consumers who want to surf the Web while on the move. Mobile devices outsold personal computers by more than four to one last year, according to market research firm Gartner Inc. |
Additionally, according to Sina.com, Google is also working with Samsung to develop a mobile named "Switch".
