Alltel Wireless today announced that it is the first North American carrier to launch mywaves, a mobile video service that allows customers to browse thousands of “Web videos” and watch them from their phone for $3.99 per month. Last December mywaves launched its 10,000 Channel Cell Phone Video Service. The application, which provides access to professional programming, user-generated videos and personal videos, allows users to bookmark their favorite sites, so that they can quickly view new content as it is added. Alltel customers can also choose for text messages to be sent to their phones, alerting them when new clips are available in their channels of choice. | ![]() |
mywaves, running on QUALCOMM’s BREW® solution, is initially available on select Alltel phones including the LG AX8600, Motorola RAZR V3m, V3c, KRZR K1m and e815, and the Samsung u520. The application will be available on additional Alltel phones in the future.
Alltel Wireless offers exclusive features including "My Circle,” allowing customers to choose who they call for free – any 10 numbers, any network; Anytime Plan Changes, giving customers the flexibility to change their rate plan any time, without extending their contract; and Celltop, a patent-pending technology that offers customers an easier way to access, manage and organize a wide range of information already available on their phones.
mywaves is the fastest growing, carrier independent mobile video company that delivers Web video entertainment to mobile phones around the world. mywaves allows content owners and brands to create and deliver mobile video channels to handsets regardless of service provider and makes it easy for consumers to personalize their mobile entertainment lineup to watch anytime, anywhere. Since its launch earlier this year, more than one million people in more than 140 countries on nearly 400 carriers are tuning into the 100,000 channels on mywaves to see what’s playing.
