Thought your cell phone number was private? Well think again, it's not. Intelius, Inc., a company that provides online information about people for a fee, recently announced it has added cell phone listings to its phone directory, making it one of the first companies to expand its people search and reverse phone search capabilities to include cell phone numbers. Intelius gets the data by purchasing it from other companies. Currently, Intelius has about 90 million cell phone numbers in its data base and plans to add an additional 70 million more shortly. According to Jupiter Research, there are approximately 195 million cell phones in the United States. With more people using cell phones -- 43 percent of phone users nationwide were considering switching to mobile phones as their primary telephone, according to a 2005 In-Stat report -- there is an increasing concern about telemarketing calls, higher cell phone bills, mystery callers and wrong numbers. By utilizing Intelius' services, a person can check unknown numbers that are calling and be more informed about the people and companies trying to get in touch with them and their children.
The cell phone directory also provides Intelius users with another way to track down people they may have lost touch with. With more people moving and changing their contact information on a regular basis, Intelius is a one stop service for people to use in order to reconnect with others.
To use the service, customers simply visit http://www.intelius.com/ and enter a person's name or cell phone number. When searching by name, Intelius' cell phone directory checks the name and expands the search results to include other possible connections to the name entered. An Intelius cell phone report contains information on a cell phone user including owner name, address and other contact numbers. Each search costs $14.95 and allows a person to search by name or do a reverse search by a cell phone number.
