Cell Phone Do Not Call List is Bogus!

October 15, 2007 10:03 AM | Interesting | Comments (1)

If you have recently received an e-mail warning you that cell phone numbers will soon be released to telemarketers and that you must add your cell phone number to the federal government's DO NOT CALL registry by a certain deadline is completely bogus!

It seems someone has a lot of free time to spread the misleading rumor!

According to Uncle Sam (Federal Trade Commission), cell phone numbers will not be released to telemarketers and it is illegal for most telemarketers to call mobile phones.

Additionally, it's against the law for telemarketers to use automated dialing to reach cell phones, pagers or any other service in which the recipient has to pay for the call. Automated dialing is used by most telemarketers.

Well today my husband, daughter in law, friend, and myself recieved telemarketing calls on our cell phones. So if its illegal why are we being called? Is this a coincidence? These numbers were the ones we recieved the call, 800-352-3705 at 4:02pm, 800-377-7789 2:14 pm, 301-882-9967 this last one was a survey. Where do I go to complain?
