| Verizon Wireless has withdrawn its appeal of the Federal Communications Commission’s (FCC) 700 MHz open-access rule. Verizon Wireless isn't happy with the FCC 700 MHz recent open-access rules and had filed a lawsuit which created uncertainty with the upcoming auction of the more than a thousand wireless airwaves licenses. However, CTIA (The International Association for the Wireless Telecommunications Industry) has immediately entered to challenge the same regulation in a law suit filed at the U.S. District Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit. “In challenging the 700 MHz order, petitioner does not seek to delay or overturn the results of any auction,” CTIA told the court. “Petitioner does, however, seek to overturn certain aspects of the order that are at odds with prior commission rulings and with the realities of the competitive marketplace for wireless services.” |
