| Drivers who take New York City's Long Island Expressway now can use a Web-enabled cell phone or BlackBerry to view real-time images (via INFORM) of various spots along the heavily traveled expressway. Traffic alerts and daily road work listings on state roadways also are provided. INFORM (INformation FOR Motorists) covers Long Island's Northern and Southern corridors, consisting of the island's major east-west highways and their busiest north-south connecting routes, including the Long Island Expressway (LIE/I-495), Northern State Parkway (NSP) and Southern State Parkway (SSP). INFORM system is one of the Nations first and is one of the largest and most advanced transportation management and information systems in the country. INFORM operates 24 hours day, 365 days a year from the Transportation Management Facility located in Hauppauge, NY. Remember New Your State law requires drivers to use a hands-free device when using cell phones. The service is available at www.informny.mob. | ![]() |
