Cell Phone Consumers Migrating to Smartphones

| ChangeWave Research this month released results of their cell phone survey which revealed that consumers are abandoning basic cell phone models for advanced Blackberry and Apple smartphones. The January 2008 survey involved 4,182 respondents which enabled ChangeWave to track key market share changes affecting cell phone manufacturers and service providers. The survey revealed that the Apple iPhone is now the top choice for the new cell phone purchases within the next 6 months. In second place is RIM's Blackberry. The survey revealed that Motorola has declined in terms of survey respondents plans to buy a Motorola cell phone. Motorola's share of future planned purchases has plummeted during the past 12 months. Apple has the lead in customer satisfaction compared with the other major manufacturers. 72% of respondents reported they are very satisfied with their Apple iPhone. Rim came in second with 55% of respondents reporting that they are very satisfied. | ![]() |
