| Samsung unveiled the MBP-100 cell phone mini projector which is about the size of a cigarette case at the Mobile World Congress trade show in Barcelona, Spain. The MBP-100 mini projector can project up to 20inch, diagonal, images and features a built in battery pack that will allow it to run for the estimated time of one movie before needing recharged. The MBP-100 is expected to be released in South Korea in March. Samsung has not announced plans for world wide distribution. Last April Texas Instruments demonstrated at the 2007 CTIA Wireless convention a prototype of a DLP pico-projector small enough to fit on your finger tips which can be used by cellular phones, digital cameras and portable media players. Last July Microvision announced that it has signed an agreement with Motorola to develop pico projector display solutions for mobile applications leveraging Microvision's ultra-miniature laser based display engine, called PicoP. |
