| AT&T Mobility has been busted by the Florida Attorney General for billing for "free" cell phone content, such as ringtones, and police third-party agreements. As a result, AT&T Mobility must repay Florida consumers for all charges. The attorney general's office claim thousands of Florida AT&T Mobility were billed for various third-party services that they did not authorize such as ringtones, horoscopes, wallpaper and other cell phone-related content advertised as "free". AT&T Mobility will also pay $2.5 million to fund Florida's CyberFraud Task Force as it continues to press for similar reform across the industry, and will pay an additional $500,000 toward consumer education on safe Internet use. AT&T Mobility has agreed to police agreements with third-party providers and clarify charges on bills. Florida Attorney General is also investigating Verizon, Sprint/Nextel, Alltel and T-Mobile. | ![]() |
