Chrysler will announce Thursday that wireless Internet will be offered as an option for all its 2009 models. The nation’s third largest car manufacturer has named the service UConnect Web, which is a mobile hotspot and will be the first to offer such technology. | ![]() |
Chrysler claims that when the car is in motion, the service is intended to be used only by passengers.
Chrysler isn’t the first company to offer this service. Avis Rent A Car offers Avis Connect in January 2007, which like UConnect Web, operates on the 3G network using a cellular-based signal.
The service cost $10.95 per day and is available via Autonet Mobile, for $595 plus a $39 monthly subscription rate. Users get download speeds of 600 megabits to 800 megabits per second.
