2009 Will Be Bad Year for Cellular Handset Sales Worldwide

March 27, 2009 8:24 AM | Interesting | Comments (0)

According to ABI Research, 2009 will be a bad year for cellular handset sales worldwide. However ABI Research’s current forecasts for 2010 are cautiously optimistic; if by optimism you mean that we may see shipment numbers stabilize and maintain an essentially flat growth rate rather than falling further.

Even if global shipment numbers hold steady at essentially 2009 levels, there will be regional variations. Some regions such as the Middle East and Africa will fare comparatively better, but volumes there are quite low.  The Asia-Pacific region will suffer most in 2009, primarily as a result of its huge volume of shipments, roughly triple the next largest region. And stabilization, if it comes, will arrive there a little later than in North America and Europe, resulting in a 2010 forecast that still shows a minimal decline in shipments, while other regions may enjoy a minimal positive growth.

Use the Pogo Stylus to Operate Your iPhone / iPod

March 26, 2009 2:01 PM | Apple | Gadgets | Comments (0)

Do you own an iPhone or iPod and wear gloves in the winter or you have long nails?  This can be a problem using your iPhone or iPod.  To get around this consider using a Pogo Stylus sold over at ThinkGeek.com for $14.99.

The stylus allows you to answer phone calls and surf the web all while keeping your hands toasty. The iPhone's glassy touch sensitive screen is only sensitive to your fingers. This is because it uses a technology called capacitive touch which measures the flow of electrons through your skin. Problem is, our fingers are rounded and not too precise at picking out tiny URLs in Safari.

Luckily the Pogo iPhone Stylus have solved this problem by making a stylus to trick the iPhone into thinking it's really a finger. The tip of the stylus is a soft felt like material that has the added benefit of keeping your screen clean while you tap away.
