Verizon Announces New Features for the Verizon Hub

April 2, 2009 11:09 AM | Verizon | Comments (0)

From CTIA WIRELESS 2009, Verizon Wireless said today the recently launched Verizon Hub will have even more functionality with the addition of new content, including horoscopes, puzzles, Sudoku and streaming radio in the near future.

The Verizon Hub is an easy-to-use system that puts a communications command center in the home.

The Verizon Hub uses your existing broadband connection, and it’s quick to get it up and running. It will work with any open broadband connection from virtually any broadband provider, telecommunications or cable, anywhere in the United States.

Designed for busy families and others with active lifestyles who want quick, focused and on-demand access to information that will help them manage every aspect of their lives, the Verizon Hub will feature:

Verizon Hub Home Phone

  •  Horoscopes – Customers will access daily horoscopes (and those for friends and family) to get a sense of what the day may hold.
  • Tile Puzzle and Sudoku – Customers will be able to play the popular numbers game or take any photo or wallpaper on the Verizon Hub, scramble it into tiles, then try to put the pieces back together to form the complete picture.
  • Radio – Now featuring five times more radio, customers can access more than 60 popular news, sports and music stations from across the country by touching V CAST from the home menu screen.

The Verizon Hub runs on any broadband connection, whether supplied by Verizon (FiOS Internet or DSL) or any other high-speed Internet service provider. When Verizon Wireless adds features to the Verizon Hub, these new services and features are automatically pushed to the device through its broadband Internet connection.

Pricing and Availability
Available from Verizon Wireless, the Verizon Hub bridges wireline connectivity and wireless functionality. Customers need a wireless line of service from Verizon Wireless to purchase the Verizon Hub. In addition to the equipment, customers need a Verizon Digital Voice plan for the Verizon Hub, which is $34.99 a month and offers unlimited calling in the U.S., Canada, and U.S. Territories, including Puerto Rico, as well as unlimited messaging to and from Verizon Wireless phones. All of these services will appear on the customer’s Verizon Wireless monthly bill.

The Verizon Hub is available in Verizon Wireless Communications Stores across the country for $199.99 after a $50 mail-in rebate with a two-year agreement; additional cordless handsets, which can be placed throughout the home, are available for $79.99 each. For customers who do not own a wireless router, Verizon Wireless also offers a router to work with the Verizon Hub for $69.99.
