| Verizon and AT&T claim they did not collude to fix prices for text messaging, text message pricing have fallen for most customers and that the text messaging market is competitive. This is after Senator Herb Kohl stated that he's concerned that four of the largest cell phone companies have doubled their text messaging rates from 10 cents in 2006 to 20 cents in 2008. Verizon and AT&T have argued that the price increase only affects 1% of text messages sent because most consumers purchased volume plans that lowered their cost for sending text messages.
