Law Makers Proposing Ban on Driving While Texting

| If you text while driving, you are a nut and should be kept off the road. Texting and driving has to be one of the most dangerous things you can do. You are not only endangering your life, but others as well. I’ve personally driven behind someone who was driving erratically, only to realize that they are texting while driving. This infuriates me! Law makers are now proposing a ban on driving while texting, which is great news. This will hopefully, protect people from getting injured from the careless drivers on the road. Legislation is being pushed by a group of Democratic senators who are proposing that states be required to ban driving while texting or lose their highway funds if they don’t comply. The District of Columbia and 14 states have already passed laws making it illegal to text while driving. In a study released by the Virginia Tech Transportation Institute, it was found that divers, who texted while driving, had a 23 times greater chance of collision. Drivers reaching for an electronic device or dialing a cell phones had a 6 times chance of collisions. | ![]() |
