| Verizon Wireless and Google announced that Verizon's cell phones will soon allow Google Voice, unlike the iPhone. Additionally, the partnership will announce two Android-powered phones this year. Google's Android initially launched on one handset (T-Mobile's G1) in the U.S. has since been adopted by other cell phone manufacturers including Samsung, LG, Motorola, and HTC. Verizon will be the third U.S. carrier to support the Android platform, following T-Mobile and Sprint. Google expects to make money from mobile advertising and sees it as a big growth opportunity. Google and Verizon also plan to incorporate Android into smartphones, netbooks, basic cell phones and other devices. | ![]() |
