| Parrot, a provider of wireless peripherals for mobile phones, has launched the Parrot RKi8400, a car stereo system for both the iPhone and the iPod, in the United States. The Parrot RKi8400 is an FM/AM RDS car stereo that features multiple connections for digital music and advanced hands-free telephony functions. A first in the industry, the RKi8400 is designed with a storage compartment behind the removable front panel, ideal for protecting and recharging an iPhone(TM) or iPod. Parrot RKi8400's iPhone and iPod connections have achieved the double official Apple license 'Made for iPod' and 'Works with iPhone'. | ![]() |
Parrot RKi8400 Bluetooth wireless technology enables users to listen to music stored on an iPhone or iPod, designed with Parrot's expertise in digital acoustics for in-vehicle conversations and voice recognition via dual microphones.
A large dial and full-color screen to view album covers stored in the iPhone(TM) enable easy navigation of playlists. When the phone rings, the system automatically switches to hands-free mode. The radio features training-free voice recognition with speech synthesis automatic synchronization with the phonebook when a phone is paired with the radio.
The RKi8400 also includes a USB port for portable hard drive or USB key, an SD card reader and a double line-in socket for analog sources. The unit also includes a 200-watt amplifier.
Finally, as with all Parrot systems, the Parrot RKi8400 is compatible with all Bluetooth mobile phone brands available on the market.
Parrot RKi8400 software updates are available for free at www.parrot.com/uk/support/downloads and downloadable on a USB key to be plugged into the stereo for an easy update.
