| Sony Ericsson has announced the 2009/2010 Mavericks Surf Contest for software developers. Mavericks is a world-renowned big wave break located one-half mile off the coast of Half Moon Bay, California. Enter the quick-start Mavericks part of the challenge and you could win a seat in the lead boat – the best and most exciting way to watch the action. Sony Ericsson asked Digital Dandelion to build an application around the event. In just a few days it was ready, bringing together real time information, weather, twitter feeds and more. Sony Ericsson is challenging developers to hack on, tear apart, and otherwise improve the sample Mavericks app before the surfing starts. The competition takes place at 24 hour’s notice and only Mother Nature knows when the wave will come. | ![]() |
Developers can download the WebSDK and make something fantastic for the XPERIA X10 by December 31. Sony Ericsson will be posting tutorials at developer.sonyericsson.com to help you along after the Web 2.0 show.
The first prize will be $4000, the opportunity for developers to show their stuff to Sony Ericsson management, and a charter membership of our Hero developer program.
Details on how to enter the contest is coming soon! Visit the Mavericks Surf Contest website for entry instructions, contest rules and restrictions.
