Europe's 3 Allows iPod Touch to Make Phone Calls via MiFi

| Europe's mobile network 3 is offering an 8 GB iPod Touch and MiFi wireless modem that allows the iPod Touch to make phone calls like the iPhone. The cost is only £24 ($40) per month, including a 5GB of data per month, with a 2 year contract. The iPod is very similar to the iPhone, such as running applications from the Apple App Store; however, it can't make phone calls. Now it's possible to make phone calls via voice-over-IP (VoIP) apps, which includes, Nimbuzz, Skype and Truphone. However, you have to use a Wi-Fi connection because networks won't be happy with users slowing their 3G network with VoIP calls. | ![]() |
The MiFi is a palm sized box that converts 3G signals to a Wi-Fi hotspot. You can then connect your iPod touch along with up to 4 other devices to make VoIP calls.
