| Language Line Services, a provider of interpretation services, today announced the availability of the Language Lineolors Mobile Interpreter for the Apple iPhone. Language Lineolors Mobile Interpreter is the first iPhone application which gives consumers access to live interpreters in up to 10 spoken languages, anytime, anywhere, without the hassle of prepaid minutes or long-term contracts. More languages will be added in later releases. The Language Lineolors Mobile Interpreter is now available for download via the iPhone Apple Store and at www.languageline.com/mobile. Catering to those who find themselves in need of an interpreter at a moment’s notice, the Language Lineolors Mobile Interpreter is the first interpretation application that allows for unlimited, uninterrupted interpretation assistance, 24/7/365. Working similar to the company’s Language Lineolors Personal Interpreter – an established service that has been a favorite of international travelers and entrepreneurs for more than three years – users simply download the Language Lineolors Mobile Interpreter application and register. Calls are then billed to the user’s credit card number which is securely kept on file. Per-minute charges begin when the interpreter joins the call and end when the caller hangs up. | ![]() |
The Language Lineolors Mobile Interpreter application also serves as a unique electronic language dictionary for Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Hindi, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Russian and Spanish, with translations for the most commonly used phrases available free of charge. Users just select a phrase from the menu and, with a touch of a button, listen to the phrase spoken in their chosen language.
The Language Lineolors Mobile Interpreter has already been well received by language industry leaders. Market research firm Common Sense Advisory noted that, “Language Line’s new iPhone application is one of the most important innovations in the field of telephone interpreting in recent years … bringing on-demand interpretation to the hands of more consumers is an important step toward expanding language access … the demand for these services is not going away anytime soon.”
The Language Lineolors Mobile Interpreter was developed internally by the Language Line Services’ technical product team. The application uses a patented process to reach language interpretation services through a mobile device. The company has begun development of a similar application for Blackberry users.
Language Line Services’ interpreters are the most highly trained in the industry. Each has the expertise to preserve the meaning as well as the cultural nuances of interpreted conversations.
The company employs just one of every 12 who apply and, because they are employees and not contractors, Language Line Services can, by law, test, train and monitor their quality where other companies’ contractors cannot.
