Developers Can Now Create Apps More Easily on the Sprint Network

January 5, 2010 10:42 AM | Software | Sprint Nextel | Comments (0)

Sprint announced today that it is expanding its service enabler program, introducing new capabilities for iDEN development and continuing to enrich the tools available through the Sprint Application Developer Program.

From opening night, when 400 developers lined up for new HTC Hero devices and an Android coding session, Sprint's ninth annual developer conference, held Oct. 26-28, felt new and different. For the first time, the conference was held in Silicon Valley and registration was open to the general public. More than 1,300 developers, enterprise partners and industry influencers enjoyed sessions addressing application development across a range of platforms, including Android, Palm(R) webOS(TM), RIM, Windows Mobile and Java; exploring machine-to-machine solutions; and 4G.

Sprint's Service Enablers Bring Benefits

As the only carrier to allow developers access to network location-based services, Sprint announced today it is expanding its open location platform with the addition of TechnoCom Corporation to give developers more ways to create new location-based services for Sprint customers. TechnoCom is a location-based aggregator that provides customization and integration support services tailored to call center and IVR-based services.

TechnoCom enables call centers to offer location enhanced services to customers and handle calls more efficiently. Examples of the location-based services that call center customers could offer include:

  • Informing customers of the stores or office locations that are closest.
  • Routing them based on location to the most appropriate call center or agent.
  • Streamlining call center operations and shortening call times.
