Inventor of Cell Phone Marty Cooper on C-SPAN

Most people don't know who Marty Cooper is. However, he's credited with the invention of the cell phone. Mr. Cooper was the division manager at Motorola who lead a team to develop the first handheld phone. Mr. Cooper was the first person to make a phone call on a handheld cell phone prototype in 1973. His name in on the patent "Radio Telephone System" filed in 1973. |
Above is a video of Mr. Cooper recently on C-SPAN. Mr. Cooper when asked about his current phone (around the 30 minute mark in the video) stated, “Depends when you ask me. I always have the latest cell phone, and I try every cell phone out, only because people like you keep asking me. Right now I’m using the Droid, because I want to get some experience with the Android operating system, and I, so far, have some favorable results.”
