Alltel Wireless launches Android-powered HTC Merge

Alltel Wireless today announced the newest addition to its Android smartphone lineup, the HTC Merge, which can be pre-ordered online at alltelwireless.com or by calling 1 (866) 255-8357 starting Monday, March 28.  Alltel is the first wireless carrier in North America to offer the Merge, which will also be available for purchase in stores on Thursday, April 7.  This feature-rich Android smartphone has a full QWERTY slide-out keyboard and large touchscreen display, combined with 5 megapixel digital camera and 720p HD video recorder, providing Alltel Wireless customers with a premium mobile experience.

The HTC Merge comes equipped with the Android 2.2 operating system and the user-friendly HTC Sense experience, allowing customers to effortlessly multitask and unite spreadsheets from work with videos from home. This customizable smartphone allows users to organize e-mail, Facebook and SMS based upon their individual preferences and not by technology.

Along with the slide-out QWERTY keyboard for quick and accurate messaging, the HTC Merge also provides customers with access to the Android Market. Users can tailor their smartphone to meet their individual needs with the Android Market which provides more than 100,000 mobile applications for music, games and other entertainment categories. In addition, the smartphone features a 5-megapixel camera with auto-focus and a flash to capture digital photos.

Additional HTC Merge key features include:

  • Bluetooth wireless technology for a hands-free experience or to easily transfer data to a computer.
  • Wi-Fi enabled, giving customers two ways to connect to the Internet – through Alltel’s wireless network or through any available Wi-Fi hotspot.
  • Digital compass, G-sensor, Proximity sensor, Light sensor and GPS to navigate your way through any city.
  • The HTC Merge is available at online at www.alltelwireless.com for $124.99 after a $50 mail in rebate and a new two year service agreement.
