Verizon Wireless Launches the Touch-Screen LG Dare

Verizon Wireless and LG today announced the LG Dare is now available. The LG Dare boast a spacious three-inch touch-screen with handwriting recognition, a superior 3.2 megapixel camera with face detection and flash, and unique photo editing capabilities. The phone will be available in Verizon Wireless Communications Stores, including those in Circuit City, on July 3.

The LG Dare’s touch-screen offers the optimal HTML Web browsing experience and runs on the nation’s most reliable wireless network to ensure a smooth and easy navigation experience. The touch-screen also supports handwriting recognition and tactile feedback so that customers can more easily select their options on the phone.

The phone’s camera has a Schneider-Kreuznach certified lens for outstanding image quality, and the camera offers advanced features, such as face detection and an LED flash so customers can take enhanced-quality photos from their mobile phones. Additionally, customers can use the photo editing tool to personalize their digital photos with features that include borders and landscapes, and they can draw on their pictures directly on the screen using their fingertips.


 

Samsung & LG to Develop North American Mobile Digital TV Standard

Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics, which together lead the global digital TV market, announced today that they will propose their jointly developed technology as the North American technology standard for mobile DTV.

LG and Samsung held a signing ceremony at Seoul Plaza Hotel in Seoul, Korea, on May 14, 2008. Executives from the two companies attended the event, including Woo Paik, LG’s President and CTO, and JongWoo Park, President of Samsung Digital Media Business.

At the ceremony, the two companies agreed to cooperate in order to assure rapid adoption by the Advanced Television Systems Committee of a single common in-band mobile DTV standard.

Watch Streaming TV with the LG Vu by AT&T

AT&T Inc. and MediaFLO USA Inc. recently announced that on May 4 they will launch the AT&T Mobile TV with FLO service. The television service will have around-the-clock access to some of today's most popular television programs; live and in color on the mobile phone.

To ensure an unmatched mobile television experience for consumers, AT&T is introducing two new exclusive handsets: the Vu from LG Electronics MobileComm U.S.A. Inc. and the Access from Samsung Telecommunications America.

The Vu is a relative of the LG Prada phone which is only available overseas. The LG Vu, the U.S. version of the Prada, is a quad-band, GSM world phone, 3G, HSDPA data system now available in 58 markets across the country by AT&T.


 

Adobe Announce Open Screen Project Supported by Industry Leaders

Adobe Systems Incorporated today announced the Open Screen Project, supported by a group of industry leaders, including ARM, Chunghwa Telecom, Cisco, Intel, LG Electronics Inc., Marvell, Motorola, Nokia, NTT DoCoMo, Qualcomm, Samsung Electronics Co., Sony Ericsson, Toshiba and Verizon Wireless.

The project is dedicated to driving rich Internet experiences across televisions, personal computers, mobile devices, and consumer electronics. Also supporting the Open Screen Project are leading content providers, including BBC, MTV Networks, and NBC Universal, who want to reliably deliver rich Web and video experiences live and on-demand across a variety of devices.

The Open Screen Project is working to enable a consistent runtime environment -taking advantage of Adobe Flash Player and, in the future, Adobe AIR -that will remove barriers for developers and designers as they publish content and applications across desktops and devices, including phones, mobile Internet devices (MIDs), and set top boxes.


 

Mobile Handset Leaders Form SPMT to Create Memory Interface Standard

ARM, Hynix Semiconductor, Inc., LG Electronics, Samsung Electronics, Silicon Image, Inc., Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications AB, and STMicroelectronics today announced the formation of a working group committed to creating an open standard for next-generation memory interface technology targeting mobile devices.

This first-of-its-kind memory standard for dynamic random access memory (DRAM), named Serial Port Memory Technology (SPMT), will enable extended battery life, bandwidth flexibility, significantly reduced pin count, lower power demand and multiple ports by using a serial interface instead of the parallel interface commonly used in today's memory devices.

This technology will be ideal for mobile handset manufacturers and consumers because it will dramatically extend battery life while allowing high-performance media-rich applications that will be the norm on next-generation mobile phones.

LG Electronics today launched its LG-KF700 (announced last February), a new multimedia phone that combines three input methods to create an amazingly intuitive user interface and provides instant access to features.

The LG-KF700 is the first phone to integrate three separate input methods, including a 3-inch touchscreen, alpha-numeric keypad and Shortcut Dial. Each of these input methods is assigned to the tasks at which it is most best suited, creating a user-optimized interface and making all of the phone’s functions and features instantly accessible.

The LG-KF700’s 3-inch full touchscreen provides easy access to features and widgets, an adaptive onscreen interface and a wide aspect ratio that is perfect for watching movies or browsing the internet.

The Shortcut Dial on the back of the phone quickly scrolls through six user-selected features by controlling a virtual dial on screen, eliminating the need to dig through menus. The Shortcut Dial can also be used to zoom in on web pages, scroll through e-mails or adjust volume.

The third input method on the LG-KF700 is its alpha-numeric keypad, a feature that customers asked LG to retain because of its familiarity and because it simplifies the process of making phone calls and is excellent for typing text messages.

Verizon Wireless Introduces the Slim enV(2) By LG

Verizon Wireless and LG Electronics today announced the enV(2) by LG will be available in April. The successor to the popular enV by LG, the new enV(2) gets a makeover with a new slim redesign and sophisticated black or maroon finish.

The enV(2) supports a number of features and services that customers have come to expect in wireless phones from LG and Verizon Wireless, including V CAST Music and Video, VZ Navigator(SM), Bluetooth® capabilities, dual speakers and a 2.0 megapixel camera. LG Announced Global Launch of the LG-KF510

LG Electronics announced today the global launch of the LG-KF510 (originally announced at GSMA Mobile World Congress 2008).

Alltel Launches the LG Scoop

Alltel has launched the LG Scoop, announced last month. The LG Scoop allows customers to take it easy on their thumbs with a messaging-friendly QWERTY keyboard and chat-style IM.

Offered in three colors including citrus orange, slate gray and turquoise blue, the LG Scoop has AOL Instant Messenger and Yahoo! Messenger pre-loaded, so there is never a missed message.

The phone also features a microSD expansion, music player, 1.3 MP camera with video capabilities and is Celltop-ready as well as Bluetooth capable.
    
The LG Scoop is the ideal phone to use Alltel’s new service, Axcess Voice2TXT, which converts incoming voicemails to text and sends them to the customer’s text inbox.

LG Introduces the LG KF600 Mind-reading Interactive Mobile Phone

LG Electronics today announced the European launch of its 2008 iF product design award winning LG KF600, a new mobile phone that is as feature rich and easy to use as it is stylish, thanks to its unique InteractPad.

The InteractPad replaces physical navigation keys with context-specific virtual keys that change to fit the task at hand. This new interface comes in response to the need for a simple way to navigate through the multitudinous features on today’s mobile phones.

LG Electronics will unveil its latest products and future technologies at the GSMA Mobile World Congress 2008 in Barcelona, Spain.

At the show LG will officially launch the LG-KF700, a new handset with an optimized user interface that makes use of touch technology. Further highlights include three other handsets featuring touch technology: the convenience-oriented LG-KF600, the slim and stylish Design with interactive touch lighting phone LG-KF510, and a professional-level camera phone, the LG Viewty.

At the GSMA Mobile World Congress 2008, LG will build on the momentum for touchscreen phones that it generated last year when it launched the PRADA Phone by LG, the first phone with a full LCD touchscreen. Starting today, the Venus by LG becomes is available in pink, exclusively from Verizon Wireless. The Venus’ sleek slider design now comes in a sparkly pink finish with the same sizzling mobile features available on the popular black Venus by LG.
