| Nokia, Sony Ericsson, Motorola and NTT DOCOMO announced today their intent to unite Symbian OS, S60, UIQ and MOAP to create one open mobile software platform. Together with AT&T, LG Electronics, Samsung Electronics, STMicroelectronics, Texas Instruments and Vodafone they plan to establish the Symbian Foundation to extend the appeal of this unified software platform. Membership of this non-profit Foundation will be open to all organizations. This initiative is supported by current shareholders and management of Symbian Limited, who have been actively involved in its development. Sony Ericsson has unveiled a cell phone accessory "Design Collection" by one of the world’s most famous tennis players, Maria Sharapova, to a select audience of international lifestyle journalists flown into London for the special occasion.
Maria Sharapova is Sony Ericsson’s first global brand ambassador. The four year agreement was sealed in January 2008 and the Maria Sharapova Design Collection is the first design collaboration campaign to be announced.
Some of London’s up and coming faces on the catwalk modelled the season’s fashion look by young urban designers to compliment the Maria Sharapova Design Collection. R&B superstar Usher is teaming with Sony Ericsson to promote its new Walkman music phone in the U.S., Canada and 20 European countries. The phone will come loaded with Usher ringtones and full-album downloads.
The marketing campaign will allow users access to exclusive content, a chance to meet Usher on video shots and a chance to win VIP tickets for Usher's North American tour later this year, which is sponsored by Sony Ericsson. Fans will also be able to vote on what bands Usher will go on tour with.
Usher will work with AT&T in marketing efforts to help sell the cell phones. AT&T is the exclusive wireless operator in the United States,
Usher's fifth album, "Here I Stand," was released last Tuesday and is expected to debut next week at number one on Billboard 200.

ARM, Hynix Semiconductor, Inc., LG Electronics, Samsung Electronics, Silicon Image, Inc., Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications AB, and STMicroelectronics today announced the formation of a working group committed to creating an open standard for next-generation memory interface technology targeting mobile devices.
This first-of-its-kind memory standard for dynamic random access memory (DRAM), named Serial Port Memory Technology (SPMT), will enable extended battery life, bandwidth flexibility, significantly reduced pin count, lower power demand and multiple ports by using a serial interface instead of the parallel interface commonly used in today's memory devices.
This technology will be ideal for mobile handset manufacturers and consumers because it will dramatically extend battery life while allowing high-performance media-rich applications that will be the norm on next-generation mobile phones. |

Sony Ericsson today unveiled the next stage in the evolution of PlayNow arena, its popular over-the-air (OTA) download service. At the MIDEM conference in Cannes, Sony Ericsson announced deals with 10 major record labels, adding over 5 million new tracks to its extensive catalogue.
Sony Ericsson also unveiled the design and URL for PlayNow arena and launched PlayNow Uncut, (formerly M-Buzz) a music promotional space for new, unsigned and developing artists.
Sony Ericsson also announced partnerships with 10 of the largest international and regional music labels including: Sony BMG, Warner Music Group, EMI, The Orchard, IODA, The PocketGroup, Hungama, X5 Music, Bonnier Amigo and VidZone, adding over 5 million new tracks to PlayNow arena. Sony Ericsson is currently negotiating further deals with a host of regional labels to further broaden the variety of music available and bring a wealth of localised content direct to the consumer.
